Bean’s Beagles Rescue

Sammy

Meet Sammy!

Let’s welcome Sammy into our Bean’s Beagles family. He is so happy to be safe and cannot wait to sit down and tell us all about him.

Sammy is a 3-year-old, 42 pound tricolor male Harrier mix who was rescued from OC Animal Care around May 13th and he was at risk due to his history. He was reportedly passed around to several unhoused owners over a period of time, and has a bite history. However, based on the history, it seems possible Sammy was in not ideal conditions and questionable treatment, so he may have responded out of fear or to how he was being treated in those conditions.

Regardless, since he was been in our care, we have housed him in a secure boarding kennel while we working with our trainer and Sammy. His initial assessment was positive, he appears to have potential, but definitely appears fearful to men and trucks going by, which we’re working on. However, Sammy has been cooperative with kennel staff with feedings, potty breaks, and being leashed, with no further bite incidents reported, though we’re all taking the proper precautions.

We are hopeful that with the right owner, patience, and training, Sammy can learn that the world can be a safe place, there are nice, patient people out there, and that he deserves a wonderful home. Sammy will need a very patient, caring, and special person who is willing to work on training, and his home should have no other dogs, children, or cats as he will need to be a priority as well as safety for all.

Please be patient while we get to know this beautiful boy. We will be posting more soon. Sammy will need a local foster who will be willing to work with our trainer as he goes back into a home environment. Let’s give him time to take in his freedom and patience. Welcome Sammy!
