Petey is a 7 year old male beagle who was originally rescued in August 2024 in partnership with Cage to Couch from a laboratory. Petey stayed in a wonderful foster home with two female beagles and cats for over a year learning the ropes, getting used to life outside of the lab cage, and then went to an adoptive home last fall. Things were going pretty well for Petey, but he and one of the other male beagles did not get along sometimes, Petey was never the aggressor but responded defensively when provoked by the other beagle. Thus, his owner contacted us as we always help our alumni if needed, and we decided it would be best to re-home Petey for his safety and peace. ❤️

Petey is looking for a foster or forever home in Southern California where he can be the only dog and no young children (under 10) as this might be too overwhelming for him. He is housetrained and knows to use the doggy door, is generally happy, sweet, likes to go for walks, he is up to date on vaccinations and seems healthy overall. He is going to check in with our vet before going to a foster home. 🐶

If you’re looking for a companion, Petey is going to be your best friend. He is still working on simple commands like sit, stay, come, but loves his treats and naps. He weighs about 37 pounds.
