Bean’s Beagles Rescue

Rye Bagel

Meet Rye Bagel!

Bagel was rescued from San Diego after his owner passed away and the family could not keep him sadly, so he was surrendered. He apparently lived primarily in an outdoor kennel with about 13 dogs. Luckily, the generous Foundation for Care of Indigent Animals in Spring Valley looked after him, got him updated on his vaccinations, neutered, a dental cleaning, and examination with the veterinarian. He had a growth removed from his leg and is wearing a cone for now, but the vet was not concerned about the growth. Then, he was transported to Orange County on January 17, 2026 and became a Bean’s Beagle.

Bagel is very new to us, we do not know much about him yet. We were initially told he was 16 years old, but the vet said he actually appears to be closer to 10-12 years old. So far, he has been enjoying walks, is friendly with people and other dogs on walks, and appears to be a cute beagle, ready for a new start. Bagel does not appear crate-trained yet, he may cry/bark in protest, he prefers to sleep on a blanket on the floor outside of the crate. He appears to know to go potty on walks and does well overnight, but may need reinforcement in his new home.

Bagel is looking for a foster or foster to adopt home in the Southern California area. He may do best in a home where he is the only dog as he learns appropriate boundaries and acclimates to a new routine and training. Give him some patience and credit, he has gone through a lot losing his owner, home, and siblings, along with a big move. Let’s welcome Rye Bagel and find him a good home!
