Meet Wren!
It’s amazing what can be accomplished when like-minded folks work together to save a little beagle girl.
Introducing our newest rescue out of Camarillo. We have named her Wren, and this first picture is of her freedom ride. She was found as a stray in that area and was taken to the shelter. She had no form of identification, but one thing she did have was a very large hernia, which has been diagnosed as her bladder in the hernia sack.
At the time of her spay at the shelter they were not able to reduce the hernia, so now she is being evaluated by our vet to see what the next step for her will be.
We will be posting an update as soon as we hear from the vet on a treatment plan.
What we know at this point is that she needs help to have her bladder expressed, has a good appetite, is very friendly with people, and appears to be over the moon excited to be out of the shelter.
She was heard saying that she hoped Bean’s Beagles would come for her. We did and we brought an army of supporters with us.
I also want to take a moment to acknowledge the entire team that made it possible for Wren to exit the shelter and make it to safety with Bean’s Beagles. They include Mary from Cage To Couch who helped organize Wren’s freedom ride with Lauren, and also the rescue coordinators at Camarillo who gave us information on Leslie who was willing to help, Julie from Canine Rescue Connection who was able to make the final drive from Camarillo to Newport Beach, and our own Yolanda who got her safely checked into the hospital.
Without everyone being involved this may not have happened this quickly.
First things first, let’s welcome Wren to our family.
Wren’s hernia and bladder repair surgery is estimated at $7000 currently and we are almost halfway there on her fundraiser (see Facebook/Instagram or our website Donations page). We must have the full amount to schedule the surgery, so Venmo is the best option if you want to contribute to her care. Our PayPal Nonprofit Giving Fund (and Meta apps Facebook and Instagram fundraisers) delay distribution of donations to 45-90 days after the fundraiser ends, so our verified Charity Venmo account is the best option so that Wren can be scheduled. Thank you for your support!
